Clancy & Theys Construction Company was awarded the opportunity to provide General Contracting for the 13-story oceanfront hotel with 168 guest rooms, 24 condominium units, an exterior pool plaza, and a separate 56,000 sq ft, 168-space parking garage—a cast-in-place post tension concrete structure. Project included demolition of an existing six-story hotel.
These structures were constructed simultaneously at the Virginia Beach oceanfront during the peak vacation season. Therefore, the logistics of coordinating construction activities was a constant and enormous challenge. In addition to the coordination of construction activities there was the issue of working with the City of Virginia Beach to ensure no disruption of the oceanfront traffic surrounding the project.
