First Colonial Inn Renovations

Overview

Clancy & Theys has completed several projects at First Colonial Inn, a senior living community in Virginia Beach, VA, that offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, and memory Care.

Interior renovations and site work improvements included:
• A major dining room renovation with the addition of a bistro and lounge area;
• Renovations to the reception, offices, and main entrance area;
• Renovations of most corridors throughout the facility;
• Renovations of two large meeting rooms;
• Renovation of the Beauty Salon and Wellness Center (fitness room);
• Addition of a larger Porte-cochère and associated site work; and
• Additional site work, including a new main drive entrance, the leveling of a portion of the parking lot, and the addition of a retaining wall.

Memory Care Conversion
The renovation and conversion of the existing first floor wing of First Colonial Inn from Assisted Living to Memory Care included demolition, reframing, all new finishes, new HVAC, new plumbing, and new electrical. The project also included a new fenced outdoor courtyard dedicated to Memory Care. The conversion added 18 resident rooms.

These projects took place while the building remained occupied and operational.
