Global UCF Building

Overview

Clancy & Theys provided construction management at risk services for the new three-story, 52,000 square foot building on the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) main campus along Memory Mall.  This $12.6 million building is dedicated to the Global UCF program which provides international students with opportunities to study at UCF.

The administration is housed on the first floor of the building, along with meeting rooms, faculty offices and four (4) classrooms.  The second floor contains additional offices and nine (9) classrooms.  The third floor consists of eight (8) classrooms.  The building also contains an active student concourse that gives students six (6) areas for informal collaboration and study.  This project is in the process of receiving LEED® Silver certification.

The mechanical system includes a chilled beam system, which is the first of its kind at UCF and one of only two in central Florida.  The chilled beam air conditioning system provides control to competently and quietly cool space-by-space.  The new technology is four times more efficient than traditional systems and is anticipated to improve energy costs by 30 percent, according to Dave Norvell, PE, LEED AP, CEM, Energy Manager for UCF’s Sustainability & Energy Management department.  The team also installed a rooftop solar system supplying dehumidification.
