CBS North Carolina visited the Wake Tech RTP Campus construction site to highlight it as an example of local colleges and programs working to fill the workforce driven by companies looking to grow in the Triangle.

This is Wake Tech’s tenth campus, ideally situated close to RTP with a focus on programs developed for some of the largest tech companies in the region. “Enormous amounts of technology are developed into the building with room for expansion in the future,” said Josh Logan, Clancy & Theys’s Site Assistant Superintendent for the RTP campus. Once finished, the new campus will host 7,000 students from the school’s 70,000 student enrollment.

Zach Dixon is a construction management student at Wake Tech, and interning with Clancy & Theys on the Wake Tech RTP campus project. “I like the two-year experience because you get more of a hands-on experience and it’s pretty fun to be on a site with the school,” said Zach. “It’s neat to think I can ride by here in 20 years and know that I was part of the whole campus when it’s done, and know that I was the first student to learn out here,” added Zach.

These types of programs like Wake Tech that customized to meet area companies’ needs, is helping students jump right into open jobs upon graduation.
