Design Finalized for Clancy & Theys’ Downtown Wilmington Park Project

May 25, 2018

After a thorough public input campaign, design details have been finalized for North Waterfront Park, Clancy & Theys’ latest Wilmington project. The park will span 6.6 acres along Wilmington’s historic Riverwalk, offering a greenspace for recreation and events.

Land for the park was purchased in 2013, and city officials have worked diligently to gather feedback from Wilmington residents about what they want to see included in the park.

NWP with BIM overlayAccording to Parks and Recreation Director of Community Services Amy Beatty, this project will ensure a safe, clean place for citizens and visitors to enjoy Wilmington’s scenic riverfront. The vibrant space will invite more recreation opportunities to the city, drawing more Wilmington residents and tourists downtown.

In addition to greenspace and lawns, the park will feature numerous amenities, including:

  • Concert venue and festival space operated by Live Nation
  • Playground and splash pad
  • Large public plaza
  • Trails and gardens
  • Public art

Clancy & Theys will continue to work closely with the City of Wilmington and architecture firm Hargreave-Jones on the park, which is slated to open to the public in 2020.

As the city continues to grow, North Waterfront Park will have a critical impact on Wilmington’s urban environment and economy. Clancy & Theys is honored to be a part of this development that will foster a stronger community for years to come.
