Clancy & Theys Construction Company is proud to announce it has achieved Platinum level in Associated Builders and Contractors’ STEP® Health and Safety Management System, recognizing the company’s continued commitment to maintaining safe, healthy, and compliant jobsites across all operations.
STEP is a nationally recognized safety benchmarking and improvement program that helps contractors strengthen and measure their safety programs using industry-leading practices. According to ABC’s 2025 Health and Safety Performance Report, top-performing STEP participants like Clancy & Theys can achieve incident rates up to 278% safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics construction industry average, with total recordable incident rates 64% lower than industry averages. This marks Clancy & Theys’ fifth consecutive year receiving STEP recognition, including Diamond honors in 2022 and 2023, Gold in 2024, and Platinum recognition in both 2025 and 2026.
“At Clancy & Theys, safety isn’t just something we say; it’s how we operate every day,” said Baker Glasgow, President of Clancy & Theys. “This recognition says a lot about our people and the standard they bring to every project and every jobsite. At the end of the day, it’s simple: we’re committed to looking out for each other and making sure everyone goes home safe to their families.”
Clancy & Theys’ approach to safety is centered around three key principles: Plan. Train. Act. The company maintains a comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety program designed to proactively identify and mitigate risk before work begins. This includes developing detailed project-specific safety plans, training trade partners on site expectations and protocols, and maintaining active oversight to help ensure safety standards are consistently followed throughout construction. Through detailed planning, continuous training, and clear communication across every phase of construction, Clancy & Theys works to promote a strong culture of safety on every project.
“We are proud of the culture our teams have built together,” added Glasgow. “This recognition belongs to all of our employees and trade partners who continually demonstrate that safety is everyone’s responsibility.”
