Clancy & Theys will partner with Reedy Creek Magnet Middle School in Cary for the 2017-2018 school year, to expand the after-school robotics program. As a Robotics Club Sponsor, Clancy & Theys supports the students’ use of important STEM skills, as well as critical thinking and problem solving, to design, build and program their own robots from scratch.

During the 2016-2017 school year, Reedy Creek teamed up with Cyberkids Robotics to offer FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics teams to its middle school students. The school competed against 20 other teams in RoboWake 2017, a local CyberKids event, earning the First Place Teamwork Award as well as the Overall Champions Award.

The partnership with Clancy & Theys will allow Reedy Creek to expand the after-school robotics program and continue its success. In addition to competing in FLL and FTC, Reedy Creek plans to add a CyberDrones team to its roster this year.

Harry McKinney, Clancy & Theys’ Director of Virtual Design and Construction, has teamed up with Reedy Creeks’ engineering and design faculty to create design lessons and modules for the program’s students. Together, they will lead students in an exploration of their own school building, while focusing on 3D modeling.

Through the after-school robotics program, students are exposed to the fundamentals of robot programming and emerging robotics technologies. Reedy Creek and Clancy & Theys hope to teach students real-world problem solving and applications of robotics technology.
