National Champs Clancy & Theys wins first place in AGC of America's 2005 information technology competition March, 2005
Clancy & Theys was awarded first place in The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America's Best Information Technology Solution (BITS) Contest 2005, a competition featuring the newest technology-driven business applications for contractors across America, which was held during AGC's 86th Annual Convention in March in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"AGC of America's BITS Contest is growing increasingly competitive each year. Clancy & Theys impressed our judges by accurately demonstrating their creative and innovative technology solution to common business problems many contractors face today," said Dave Golden, Director of Internet Services, AGC of America.
Clancy & Theys, one of six finalists, had only ten minutes to convince a panel of judges that its technology solution, Field2Base, could transform the way contractors do business. At the end of the competition, the judges, all building industry leaders, were indeed convinced that Field2Base is worthy of the building industry's attention.
"It is gratifying to win and to be recognized by AGC of America. I think our enthusiasm for Field2Base came through in the presentation and the judges saw what a fast, simple and powerful communication tool it is," said Scott Cutler, Vice President, Marketing, Clancy & Theys Construction Company.
During the presentation, Cutler and site Superintendent, Don Street, were able to demonstrate how Field2Base, a new wireless technology tool, successfully enabled Street--a veteran superintendent--to instantly convey project information to relevant parties via hand-drawn sketches, annotated digital photos, annotated CAD files, automated paper forms or any combination thereof. They also proved how the use of Field2Base saved money and shortened response cycles for critical project communications with other members of the design and construction team.
"We are thrilled that our technology helped Clancy & Theys win such a prestigious award," says Ed White, Chairman/CEO of Field2Base. "It is a tremendous validation of our ongoing hard work and corporate mission."
International Finalist Clancy & Theys competes for Global Innovator's Award
Clancy & Theys made its bid for international recognition on August 4th in Cambridge, Massachusetts. CoreNet Global, the world's leading professional association for corporate real estate leaders, announced 10 finalists in July, 2005 for its H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator's Award, and Clancy & Theys was among them.
CoreNet, in its July 7th press release, says it invited the finalists to "present their innovations before a panel of senior corporate real estate executives and leading academics at Harvard University, August 3 and 4." It says, "CoreNet will announce the winners at its Las Vegas Global Summit, October 23-26."
Clancy & Theys presented its use of the tablet PC-based wireless communication device called Field2Base. The tool allows Clancy & Theys' field superintendents to instantly convey project information--via wireless--to other project team members. User tools include hand-drawn sketches, annotated digital photos, annotated CAD files, automated paper forms, schedule documents, or any combination thereof. Clancy & Theys believes that the Field2Base-enabled PC shortens the question/response cycle for critical project communications among the contractor, owner and members of the design and construction team.
Clancy & Theys' use of Field2Base was presented to the panel by Marketing Vice President Scott Cutler at Harvard University Faculty Club. Cutler was supported by Field2Base Account Manager Robert Tucker and company co-founder and CTO Ed Holloway.
Other finalists are Cisco Systems, Harvard University, Royal Bank of Scotland, Key Corp., Johnson Controls, Sprint, Cushman & Wakefield / Marks & Spencer, Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., and The Hartford.
